WHO IS ALI.TM?

Born in Pakistan and raised in the United States, Ali developed a passion for journalism at an early age. He completed his junior school in Iowa before moving to Lahore, Pakistan, where he finished his high school education.

Ali went on to complete his A and O levels from the Beaconhouse School System, followed by a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Punjab. Later, he pursued a Master’s degree in Mass Communication from the same university and an MPhil from the University of Central Punjab.

Ali’s journalistic career began in 2010 when he started working as a subeditor at the Daily Times. He then went on to work for several media outlets, including the Post, Pakistan Today, The Nation, and Samaa TV. Throughout his career, Ali has worked in various roles, from being a reporter to a subeditor to a news anchor.

Despite working for mainstream media outlets, Ali always had a dream of starting his own news website. In 2018, he founded Othernews.pk, a website dedicated to providing unbiased news coverage to its readers. At Othernews.pk, Ali is involved in almost every aspect of the website, from writing news stories to editing pictures and videos to uploading content on social media.

One of the flagship features of Othernews.pk is the ATM Edition Podcast, which Ali hosts. The podcast covers various issues and topics relevant to Pakistan, including politics, economics, social issues, and more. Ali arranges guests, manages the studio, and edits the episodes on his own. The podcast has been well received and has helped establish Othernews.pk as a credible source of news and information in Pakistan.

Ali’s commitment to journalism goes beyond his work at Othernews.pk. He has been teaching journalism as a visiting faculty member at several universities since 2015. He has taught at Minhaj University, KC, UCP, PU, and BNU, among others. His teaching skills are highly regarded by his students, who appreciate his ability to explain complex concepts in a simple and easy-to-understand manner.

Despite his success, Ali remains grounded and focused on his work. He believes that journalism has the power to bring positive change to society, and he is committed to using his skills to make a difference. He is also aware of the challenges facing journalism in Pakistan, including censorship, authoritarianism, and lack of media freedom.
